CHRISTMAS HOOD by Emily, Phil and Tony Boardman Chapter 6: The Chase “Did you try to trace the other end of the transmission John?” Alan asked into his watch. “I didn’t have time fellas. Father keeps contacting me today,” explained John “Also, the transmission was very short again and I wanted to be sure to pin-point your end as accurately as possible. Any luck there?” he asked, hopefully. “No, John. There are large crowds here and it could be anyone who is making these transmissions.” Alan answered. “Yeah, well we just need to get you close and then you will be able to use the mobile transmission scanner!” John pointed out “How close did Brains explain you needed to be for it to sense a transmission?” “We had trouble getting Brains to say exactly. It was hard enough getting the mobile scanner out of his lab. without him knowing. We couldn’t ask too many questions. But I think he mentioned around a quarter of a mile. But that might have been in open country and I am not sure whether that might be less in busy cities” Alan explained. “Whatever the range we don’t have a chance if there aren’t any transmissions being made” Virgil added, irritably. “Have patience guys.” said John calmly. Virgil tapped the display of the mobile transmission scanner as if hoping that it would spring into action in response. “Come on! Communicate!” he willed. Alan’s wristwatch beeped again. “They’ve moved again Alan! You need to get to The Houses of Parliament, fast!” John commanded. “F.A.B. John” said Alan, and Virgil turned the wheel of the car towards Westminster. “Anything on the mobile sensor?” Virgil asked as he kept his eyes on the road ahead. “No, nothing” Alan answered “I guess we are just too far away but we’ll catch up with whoever is sending these messages. I’m sure of it.” “We are at The Houses of Parliament, John. We still don’t have any readings on the mobile sensor” Alan spoke into his watch. “Don’t stop Alan, Virgil, there’s just been another very short transmission from outside Buckingham Palace!” John replied. “F.A.B. John, we’re on our way,” said Alan and he was pushed back in the seat as Virgil accelerated the car. On to Chapter 7: One Step Ahead. | |||||
